STELCO Employee Dies After Power Plant Accident in Karantuga

A supervisor at the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has passed away following an accident at the Karantuga power plant. The incident occurred on the 26th of this month due to a voltage issue in the medium voltage panel at the Hulhumale power plant. The employee, identified as Azmeel, 43, was hospitalized in Hulhumale and later transferred to Thailand for further treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Azmeel had traveled to Thailand on the 30th of the month for advanced medical care. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, and STELCO has expressed its commitment to providing all necessary support to the family. The incident has also highlighted concerns over safety protocols at the power plant.
