The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has launched a new initiative to expand employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. As part of this program, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed presented job certificates to 30 newly employed staff members with disabilities at a ceremony held on Thursday. The initiative aligns with the government’s policy to provide income-generating opportunities for individuals with disabilities and aims to promote workplace inclusion. Speaking at the event, First Lady Sajidha emphasized the benefits of employment, including improved health, financial security, and mental well-being. She highlighted how workplace routines instill discipline and help individuals develop valuable skills. With the new recruits, the total number of employees with disabilities at STELCO has risen to 80, working in both technical and non-technical roles. The ceremony also included a moment of silence in memory of STELCO employee Ahmed Azmeel, who recently passed away following a workplace accident.
