Student Suspended After Scuffle with Teacher at Addu High School

A student from Addu High School has been suspended following a physical altercation with an expatriate teacher. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday around noon, was captured on video and circulated on social media, sparking widespread debate. The footage shows the male student repeatedly swinging his arm at the teacher, who responded by grabbing the student several times. Additional videos surfaced showing the same student harassing another foreign teacher. School sources revealed that the student, currently in grade 12, has a history of disciplinary issues dating back to grade nine. He had reportedly been bullying and harassing the teacher for the past two weeks. The student’s suspension will remain in place until he completes an ethics program. Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has suspended the teacher involved in the incident and launched an investigation. Police are also conducting a separate inquiry.
