The Democrats demand public explanation over MVR 115 million released by Maldives Monetary Authority
Politics ·
The Democrats have called for a clear public explanation over the use of 115 million rufiyaa made available by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), saying no information has been provided about the matter.
In a statement, the party's press office said the authority must make its decisions transparent, and that it is not possible to conceal the details of the 115 million rufiyaa.
The Democrats said the government has an obligation to answer and that the people must be told how this public money was spent.
According to the party, both the authority and the government have been questioned about this money for a long time, and it will continue to press for accountability until a complete answer is given.
The party noted that in 2020 the Maldives Monetary Authority had taken financial decisions of this kind, and said the same questions remain unanswered and that transparency must be restored.
The Democrats concluded by stating that the 115 million rufiyaa must be explained publicly and that the issue has not been closed.
