'The Dirty Picture 2' Will Be Made With an Entirely New Story: Ekta

Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor has confirmed that a sequel to the hugely popular Bollywood film 'The Dirty Picture' is being prepared. Speaking about the sequel, which comes 15 years after the first film was released in cinemas, Ekta said that this time too there is a specific person's story that she wants to tell. However, Ekta has not revealed the film's cast, the star who will appear in the lead role, or a release date. Speaking on the podcast of well-known podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, Ekta noted that this sequel is a project she had wanted to make for a long time. She said she decided to take the project forward now after receiving a strong story worth telling audiences. Ekta said that, like the first film, this film too will be based on the life of a famous personality. The 2011 film, in which Vidya Balan played the lead role, was based on the life of South cinema icon Silk Smitha. Vidya also won the National Film Award for Best Actress for the role she played in the film. During Silk Smitha's 18-year film career she worked in more than 450 films, and she died at the age of 35.
