The third phase of the Thinadhoo City road development project is now underway, marking a major infrastructure upgrade for the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll capital. The project, valued at $22.1 million, was officially inaugurated by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib at a ceremony attended by local parliament members and officials from the Road Development Corporation (RDC). The contract was awarded to RDC on February 25, with a completion timeline of 1,440 days. This new phase will see the development of 50 roads, including comprehensive road paving and the installation of modern drainage systems. RDC, which previously completed Phase II of the project involving the asphalting of 14 roads, is tasked with executing this latest expansion. The initiative is a key component of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's national pledge to modernize road networks in populated islands and cities across the Maldives. The upgrade aims to improve connectivity, safety, and the overall quality of life for Thinadhoo's residents by bringing local infrastructure up to contemporary standards.
