Three arrested in connection with online scam of MVR 32,000

Maldives Police have arrested three individuals in connection with an online scam involving MVR 32,000. Those arrested have been identified as Hussain Samir (40) of H. Velasfaru, Male'; Mohamed Reehaan (33) of Dhaftaru No. R6007/Male'; and Ahmed Sujaau (46) of Jozzedvilla, Male'. The police stated that the case was filed on the 13th of this month, with the suspects allegedly using WhatsApp to communicate and fraudulently obtaining money through deception and trickery. Upon being presented to court to decide on their remand, the court ordered a 15-day remand for Hussain Samir and Ahmed Sujaau. Mohamed Reehaan was ordered to be remanded for seven days. Police said the investigation into the case is ongoing.
