Three Film Stars Among Four Released After Drug Arrest in Vilimale'

Four individuals, including three well-known Maldivian film stars, who were arrested in Vilimale' on drug-related charges have been released by police after the conclusion of their investigation. The Maldives Police Service detained the four suspects on October 8 during an anti-narcotics operation in Vilimale'. Those arrested were identified as Ahmed Azmeel (Azey), Ismail Jumaih, Mohamed Vishal (Roman), and Shahil Mohamed. All four tested positive for synthetic drugs, including methamphetamine and two other types. Following their arrest, the Criminal Court ordered a 15-day remand. On October 22, police announced that the investigation phase was complete and the four had been released. The case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General's Office for possible prosecution.
