Tradian Portal Expands Trade Services to Streamline Import and Export Processes
Politics ·
The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade is expanding the capabilities of the Tradian portal, introducing three new digital services starting May 10 to further simplify trade operations for Maldivian businesses.
The new additions to the platform include vessel declaration, fireworks import permits, and flare import permits. These services are designed to reduce bureaucratic delays and centralize the application process for traders and logistics providers.
To ensure a smooth transition, the ministry has implemented a grace period. From May 10 to June 10, users can access the new services to familiarize themselves with the system. Starting June 11, these three services will move exclusively to the Tradian portal, and manual or legacy applications will no longer be accepted.
Tradian is a cornerstone of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s development vision, serving as a unified digital gateway that connects various government agencies involved in trade. By consolidating multiple agency requirements into a single online system, the platform aims to lower the cost of doing business and increase the efficiency of the nation's supply chain.
The development of the portal involved extensive consultation with economic stakeholders and business representatives to ensure the interface meets the practical needs of the private sector. The government has also established dedicated support channels, including a contact number and email, to assist users in navigating the new digital requirements.
