Tree Top Hospital Joins World Stroke Day Event to Raise Awareness
Health ·
Tree Top Hospital took part in a special event held in connection with World Stroke Day, aimed at building a healthy community and increasing health awareness.
The event, organised by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and IGMH, was held last Friday at Artificial Beach from 4 PM to 6 PM.
Its main purpose was to bring together various stakeholders from the health sector in one place, raise public awareness about stroke, clarify the importance of taking preventive measures before a stroke occurs and detecting the illness quickly, and dispel doubts.
Through the event, healthcare professionals were able to interact directly with the public, providing information on how to recognise stroke symptoms and the importance of seeking immediate treatment.
The Tree Top Hospital team participating in the event included Consultant Neurosurgeon Dr. Jo Mariadas, Chief Rehabilitation Therapist Ramesh Babu and members of the physiotherapy team.
The team provided visitors with guidance on preventing strokes, predisposing factors, warning signs and available rehabilitation services, as well as information on the 'B-Fast' method used to easily identify stroke symptoms.
Public participation was increased through a 'Myth vs Fact' campaign to dispel negative perceptions in society regarding stroke. Leaflets explaining the importance of seeking immediate treatment upon noticing a symptom of stroke were also distributed to the public.
According to Tree Top Hospital, its main objective is to introduce new standards and services, reducing the need for Maldivians to travel abroad for medical treatment and reducing healthcare costs. With the most modern technology and complete laboratory services, the aim of Tree Top Hospital's experienced doctors is to provide many health services to Maldivians.
