Tree Top Hospital Provides Specialist Care to 492 Patients in Laamu Atoll

World ·
Tree Top Hospital has completed its second multi-specialty healthcare camp of the year in Gan, Laamu Atoll, providing critical medical consultations to 492 patients. The two-day initiative, held from June 19 to 20, aimed to reduce the need for island residents to travel long distances to Malé for specialized treatment. Organized in collaboration with Gan Regional Hospital, the Fan Council, and the local Women’s Development Committee, the camp offered a wide array of essential services. Patients received consultations in cardiology, endocrinology (diabetes and hormonal disorders), ENT, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, and pulmonary medicine. Beyond direct treatment, the program integrated comprehensive health screenings and public awareness education. The initiative extended its impact beyond patient care by focusing on community health and professional development. Tree Top Hospital conducted health awareness sessions specifically tailored for school students and held specialized training workshops to enhance the professional skills of local nursing staff. This event marks the 18th medical camp conducted by Tree Top Hospital as part of its ongoing commitment to decentralizing healthcare in the Maldives. Previous camps have been successfully deployed across Meemu, Dhaalu, Thaa, Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu, Haa Alifu, Laamu, and Shaviyani atolls. By bringing top specialist doctors directly to the islands, the hospital seeks to strengthen the national health system and promote a healthier society. The program underscores a growing trend toward improving healthcare accessibility for residents in remote atolls, ensuring that high-quality medical expertise is available regardless of geographical location.
