Two Individuals Arrested in Malé Drug Bust Operation

Two individuals have been arrested in Malé in connection with a drug-related operation led by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Counter Narcotics Intelligence. The arrests were made after authorities discovered a significant quantity of illicit substances in an apartment in Malé. The operation, which was conducted on January 5th, 2026, resulted in the seizure of a large amount of drugs. The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Mohamed Evaan Hamidhu from Haddhalifushi, Vaavu Atoll, and 31-year-old Mohamed Raidhu Ali Asgharu from Hithadhoo, Addu City, were taken into custody. The court has remanded the two individuals for seven days pending further investigation. Authorities are continuing their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
