Two Migrants Arrested in Male as Part of National Task Force Operations

In a recent operation conducted by the National Task Force on Combating Illegal Expatriate Operations and Business, two individuals were arrested in Male for allegedly employing migrants illegally. The operation, carried out under the Ministry of Economic Development's supervision, targeted seven locations in the capital city. Authorities confirmed that the arrests were part of a broader initiative to address the growing issue of illegal migrant employment in the Maldives. Over the past two years, the task force has identified and repatriated 9,188 migrants found to be working illegally. The Ministry has also announced stricter measures, stating that individuals found employing migrants without proper documentation will face deportation proceedings.
