Two prominent players from Nepal, national team forward Rekha Poudel and national team defender Deepa Shahi, have joined the Maldivian women's football team Maziya Sports and Recreation. Rekha, 24, is a well-known player in the Asian women's football scene. This season, she played for UAE's Abu Dhabi Country Club, where she played a pivotal role in helping the team reach the quarterfinals. She also competed against teams like Laos' Young Elephants and Saudi Arabia's Al-Nasr. Rekha has also played in the Indian Women's League in Odisha earlier this year. She has been a part of Nepal's national team since 2019 and participated in the 2024 SAFF Women's Championship, where she scored a stunning goal for the country. Deepa, 23, is also a national team player from Nepal. Previously, she played for the Indian team and was scouted by Nepal's senior national team in 2022 after playing for their junior teams. Due to Nepal's national team commitments, both players were unable to join the Maldives Women's Championship match against Victoria. Maziya won their first match of the tournament 2-0 against Bison FC.
