UN Warns Israeli Access Denials Are Crippling Gaza Aid Operations

Politics ·
The United Nations has raised alarm over Israel's continued denials of access for humanitarian personnel in Gaza, describing it as a 'serious issue.' According to UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, an average of nearly seven people per day were blocked from participating in aid missions over a seven-week period. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that these restrictions, along with delays and movement limitations, are severely hindering the delivery of basic supplies and disrupting humanitarian planning. Conditions in Gaza remain dire, with humanitarian needs far outpacing the ability of aid organizations to respond due to ongoing impediments such as security concerns, customs clearance challenges, and limited transport routes. The UN has called for unimpeded access to humanitarian goods and services to scale up assistance and reach all those in need. Israel's military operations in Gaza have resulted in over 70,000 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and have displaced nearly the entire population.
