Velana Airport Bus Stop Temporarily Shifted for Essential Road Maintenance
Politics ·
Bus transit services at Velana International Airport will be temporarily diverted to the western parking zone for one week to facilitate essential infrastructure upgrades. The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced that the shift is necessary to accommodate road maintenance scheduled from May 7 to May 13.
The adjustment comes after the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) notified the transit agency that planned repairs would directly impact the primary thoroughfares used by the public. To avoid disruptions during the construction, MTCC has modified the standard bus paths and adjusted passenger stop locations for the duration of the works.
Until the project is completed, the western parking zone will serve as the provisional staging area for all arriving and departing travelers. This temporary relocation aims to ensure that the flow of passengers remains steady while critical roadwork is carried out on the airport grounds.
MTCC has assured the public that despite the physical relocation of the stop, existing bus schedules remain unchanged. The company expects a negligible impact on overall travel times, with logistical adjustments already in place to maintain seamless service for all users.
Passengers seeking further information or clarification regarding these operational changes are encouraged to contact the MTCC service line at 1650 to ensure a smooth transition during the maintenance period.
