Veteran actor and director Ahmed Nimal passes away

Veteran Maldivian actor and director Ahmed Nimal passed away on Thursday at the age of 62. Nimal, known for his versatile contributions to the Maldivian film industry, was admitted to ADK Hospital on December 31 following a stroke and later transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital. Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) confirmed his death at 6:50 AM. Nimal's career spanned acting, directing, editing, writing, and producing, with notable films such as 'Zalzala,' 'Valoabi Engeynama,' and 'Khalas' under his direction. He was also celebrated for his acting roles in films like 'Veerana,' 'Niuma,' and the 2023 hit 'Loabi Vevijje.' His son, Mohamed Jumayyil, continues his legacy as a prominent actor in the industry.
