Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has called on the nation to renew the bonds of solidarity and harmony as Maldives celebrates Eid al-Adha. In a message shared via social media, the Vice President emphasized that the spirit of unity, which characterized the community in the past, remains essential for a stronger national future.
Drawing a connection between the holiday and the spiritual journey of Hajj, the Vice President stated that the lessons learned during the sacred pilgrimage should inspire citizens to foster a more cohesive and supportive society. He urged Maldivians to reflect on these values to bridge divides and strengthen community ties.
Addressing the importance of social harmony, Vice President Latheef encouraged the public to engage in acts of goodwill, specifically calling for the widespread use of Islamic salutations of peace and kindness. He noted that the wisdom passed down by elders—that unity is a powerful strength—continues to be a vital truth for the country.
Eid al-Adha, one of the two primary festivals in the Islamic calendar, marks the conclusion of the Hajj pilgrimage. It is observed globally as a time of sacrifice, faith, and family gathering, providing a focal point for communal reflection and the reinforcement of social bonds across the Maldivian atolls.
