Vilimale Hospital services temporarily shifted to Amaan Hiya

Health ·
VILIMALE, Maldives — The Vilimale Hospital has temporarily relocated its services to the Amaan Hiya building, the former children's shelter, to make way for the construction of a new tertiary hospital on the site where the hospital currently stands. The move took place on Thursday of last week, after renovation work at the Amaan Hiya building was completed. Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib had previously said, on 23 November last year, that work on the Vilimale tertiary hospital would begin in the middle of this year and be completed within two years. He also said that a team dedicated to some of the hospital works, carried out under grant assistance from the Chinese government, met with relevant parties in December, and that actual work would begin within about five months. The minister gave assurance that when the new hospital is completed, it would be equipped with all modern facilities. The Construction Ministry signed an agreement with the Chinese government in early June last year for the design work of the hospital being built in Vilimale with Chinese government assistance.
