Villimalé Development Accelerated With New Hospital and Infrastructure Projects Under Current Government

Villimalé is seeing a surge in infrastructure investment and public service improvements as the current administration prioritizes the island's development over previous governmental efforts, according to Mohamed Ismail, the Member of Parliament for Villimalé. Speaking at the official launch of the Male' Taxi Line service in Villimalé, MP Ismail noted that the island had suffered from a lack of adequate attention since the Maldives transitioned to a multi-party political system. He asserted that since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took office, the government has shifted its focus to accelerate essential works and address long-standing resident needs. Central to this development push is the construction of a new 100-bed hospital, with physical work already underway. This project represents a critical expansion of healthcare access for the community. Beyond healthcare, Ismail highlighted several other initiatives aimed at raising the general quality of life for residents, emphasizing a policy of equitable development across all Maldivian islands without discrimination. Addressing the authenticity of these promises, Ismail pointed to a compiled book of President Muizzu's pledges delivered directly to citizens. He insisted that these commitments are being translated into tangible results rather than remaining "empty words." The MP expressed confidence that a suite of major projects, including new housing developments and upgraded public services, will be completed by 2028. These initiatives are expected to provide a sustainable foundation for the continued growth of Villimalé and ensure that the administration fulfills its commitments to the local population.
