World ·
Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has officially endorsed Food & Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) 2026, marking a strategic move to strengthen the professionalism and competitiveness of the nation's tourism sector. The event is scheduled to take place from September 7 to 9 at the newly opened Manhattan Grand Hotel in Hulhumalé. Serving as a critical hub for industry stakeholders, the three-day exhibition will bring together hospitality professionals, resort representatives, chefs, and international brands. The event is expected to draw thousands of trade visitors, including buyers from more than 120 resorts and hotels, alongside over 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest in hospitality technology, commercial kitchen equipment, and wellness services. A centerpiece of the exhibition is the Global Culinary Challenge, the only national competition in the Maldives endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies (Worldchefs). More than 700 chefs are expected to compete in the culinary and pastry categories, providing a high-profile platform to showcase the skill and talent of the Maldivian workforce. In addition to the culinary battles, FHAM 2026 will host a Barista Championship, a Mocktail Competition, and a Housekeeping & Bed Decoration Challenge. These activities are designed to foster professional development and innovation while connecting local stakeholders with global suppliers. VMC stated that its endorsement reflects a commitment to platforms that drive knowledge-sharing and business collaboration. By supporting such initiatives, the corporation aims to ensure the Maldivian hospitality workforce remains internationally competitive, reinforcing the country's status as a premier global tourism destination. The 2026 edition also marks a milestone for Hulhumalé's infrastructure, as it will be the first major event hosted at the Manhattan Grand Hotel. The exhibition is supported by a wide array of industry partners, including Lily International, Nestlé, SIMDI, Euro Marketing, COSMERC, MIFCO, Dunar, Nescafé, Maggi, and Lavazza.
