Visit Maldives Targets South Asian Growth at ITB India 2026 Exhibition
World ·
Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) is showcasing the nation's diverse tourism offerings at ITB India 2026, held from September 1 to 3 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The initiative aims to strengthen ties with travel trade representatives from India and across South Asia.
Joined by 17 co-exhibitors from the aviation and tourism sectors, VMC is utilizing the event to facilitate one-to-one business meetings with tour operators, corporate travel managers, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) planners. The dedicated Maldives stand serves as a hub for networking, featuring promotional videos and a photo backdrop to enhance destination visibility.
To better understand the evolving needs of the region, VMC is conducting a trade survey at the stand. This data collection effort focuses on current market trends and booking behaviors, offering participants a raffle giveaway in exchange for their professional insights.
This exhibition is a cornerstone of a broader strategic engagement with the Indian market. VMC's current roadmap includes joint marketing campaigns with prominent tour operators and a collaborative program with IndiGo. The corporation is also organizing familiarization trips for media personalities and influencers, supported by the High Commission of the Maldives in India.
India continues to be a critical source market for the Maldivian economy. Official data highlights the importance of this corridor, with 131,625 Indian arrivals recorded in 2025. As of August 10, 2026, the Maldives has already welcomed 74,173 visitors from India.
By maintaining a strong presence at ITB India, Visit Maldives seeks to solidify its position as a premier holiday destination while adapting its strategies to meet the shifting preferences of South Asian travelers.
