WAMCO Employee on Ventilator After Diesel Ingestion Accident

Local News ·
An employee working at the WAMCO site in GA. Dhiyadhoo is currently being treated on ventilator support after accidentally ingesting diesel, which entered their lungs. The incident occurred earlier this week, and the employee was initially treated at GA. Villingili Hospital before being transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for further care. Despite being on ventilator support, the employee is reported to be in stable condition. This incident comes in the wake of another workplace tragedy, where an STELCO employee critically injured in a fire passed away on Thursday. Both incidents have raised concerns about workplace safety in the Maldives.
