White alert issued for central Maldives as heavy rain forecast

The Meteorology Office has issued a white alert as weather worsens in the atolls of central Maldives amidst ongoing rainfall. The alert covers from Baa Atoll to Laamu Atoll, effective from 08:00 today until 14:00 noon. During this period, the Met has forecast heavy rain with flooding in those areas. Noting that the monsoon is intensifying and weather is deteriorating in various parts of the country, the Met has stated that incidents of heavy rain and flooding are likely. The office has specifically requested that maritime entities pay attention to the weather, as significant damage is currently being inflicted on some islands due to the rainfall.
