Work Begins to Pave 25 Additional Roads in Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo

Work has commenced to pave and modernise an additional 25 roads in Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo, a project entrusted to the Road Development Corporation (RDC). The initiative comes after two previous phases of road construction on the island, which saw 14 roads developed in the first phase and 19 in the second. However, the Dhidhdhoo Council noted that some roads from earlier phases suffered damage, partly due to sewerage issues, and that newly reclaimed areas now require paving. The council stated that the current project is being carried out in consultation with residents to prevent such problems. Dhidhdhoo, home to over 4,700 people, serves as the administrative centre of Haa Alif Atoll and sees many daily visitors. The council added that modernising the roads will improve safety and convenience for both locals and incoming entities, addressing hazards such as potholes, water accumulation, and slippery surfaces during rains.
