Work on Hulhumale Phase 2 Multi-Sports Complex to Begin Within Two Weeks

The Minister of Sports and Fitness, Abdulla Rafiu, has announced that work on the multi-sports complex in Hulhumale Phase 2 will commence within the next two weeks. Speaking during a forum, the minister also revealed that a similar sports complex will be developed in Vilimale. The project has been awarded to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). This is part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's pledge to establish fitness and recreation centres in all inhabited islands of the Maldives by 2026. An agreement between the Ministry of Sports and MACL for the development of such centres in 63 islands was signed on 18 August 2025.
