Workers in Thilafushi Raise Alarms Over Lack of Basic Services and Infrastructure
Local News ·
Workers in Thilafushi, Kaafu Atoll, have voiced serious concerns over the absence of water and sewage systems, poor road conditions, and inadequate healthcare facilities on the island. Speaking on Raajje TV's program 'What is the situation?', workers highlighted that when it rains, roads become flooded, causing damage to vehicles. They also noted difficulties with the ferry system, stating that schedules have not improved and ferries are often overcrowded. Additionally, workers pointed out that despite government promises, including a pledge by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to build a hospital in Thilafushi, no construction has begun. They expressed frustration that no government has made efforts to develop the island, which generates significant revenue for the state, and called for urgent solutions to these infrastructure problems.
