Yazmeed Mohamed has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO), bringing over two decades of leadership experience across public auditing, business management, and independent state institutions. Mr. Mohamed transitions to the MPAO from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), where he served as Vice-President and Commissioner. During his tenure at the JSC, he played a pivotal role in judicial governance, serving as the Secretary for the committee reviewing judge disciplinary matters and contributing as a member of the Judicial Academy Advisory Board. His extensive background in oversight and integrity is further highlighted by his term as a Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) from 2014 to 2019. In that capacity, he led critical anti-corruption initiatives and conducted comprehensive reviews of institutional governance practices. He began his public service career with a decade of experience at the Auditor General's Office. Mr. Mohamed holds a strong academic and professional foundation, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Open University Malaysia and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting with First Class Honours from Oxford Brookes University. He is also a member of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives). The appointment comes as the MPAO continues its role as one of the largest institutional investors in the Maldives. The office is responsible for administering the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme and the Basic Pension for elderly citizens, managing a fund with a net asset value of approximately USD 1.81 billion. Currently, the MPAO manages pension funds for more than 107,000 members and provides essential Basic Pension payments to over 25,000 elderly citizens residing across the archipelago.
